The first stage, the GSL Group Stage, shows 16 invited teams allocated into 4 groups, including our very own UMX! Only the top two players overall will win the prize money!

The Group Stage will take place between March 3rd to 14th with UMX playing on Friday March 5th at 4:30 pm GMT and again at 6 pm if they win the previous round. The Swiss Stage will be taking place between March 6th to 14th and the playoffs will be from March 21st until April 4th.

After forming in 2018, UMX Gaming are on an upward hill! Climbing the ladder to the big leagues, UMX placed 4th at the recent OMEN WGR European Challenge in January of this year. The win is a huge achievement for the team, with matches involving a mix of qualifiers, invitations, and previous 1st placers.

With a requirement to place either 1st or 2nd to get to the Closed Qualifiers, UMX were up against 15 other teams in the first batch of Open Qualifiers on January 11th, winning with a 16:9 against TimeChasers in the first round. Not too dissimilarly, they smashed Infinite Gaming with a 16:11 soon after! Their match against Good Game took them out of this round with hardly a devastating loss at 14:16 and set their place at 4th.

A few days later, on January 13th, they got their second chance at the Closed Qualifiers. They started the day off right with an epic defeat of Pbl6aJlka  at 16:3 and carried this forward against Pompa Team at 16:9. The next match, against GROND, would determine their place at the Closed Qualifiers…

They won with an impressive 16:10, solidified their 2nd place slot in the second set of Open Qualifiers and a one way ticket to the Closed Qualifiers!

Now only competing against seven other teams, UMX had to place between 1st and 4th to make it to the final tournament. Starting on January 27th and finishing on January 28th, UMX started with a match against Saints, another team that qualified in their second go at the Open Qualifiers. Now defining the stakes of the game, UMX still grabbed that win with a 16:14. Upper Bracket Round 2 saw them facing Sangal Esports, a team that came first in the first OPen Qualifiers and went straight to the Closed Qualifiers position on January 11th. You would think there might be some pressure on UMX at this point but if there was, it certainly doesn’t show with yet another win at 16:14! This placed the team at 2nd and qualified them for the final tournament.

On January 30th, UMX started the two-day tournament alongside seven other teams, only three of which also came from the Closed Qualifier games. Now also competing for a cut of the 15,000€ cash prize are three established teams including Movistar Riders, SAW, and SINNERS Esports. As well as this, the challenge also has OMEN Retakes Season 1’s 1st place winner, GTZ Bulls Esports, amongst its participants.

Starting off against SINNERS Esports, UMX Gaming truly pulled it out of the bag and seized an incredible win at 16:12! Now versing Movistar Riders, UMX unfortunately took the L with a 10:16 but still captured Most Assists in the match. Despite the loss, it wasn’t over for the team. They dropped down to the Lower Bracket where it’s still possible to win and went against OMEN’s last 1st placers, GTZ Bulls Esports. Once again, their will to win proved entirely durable and they crushed GTZ with a 2:1 and the Most Damage. Now up against the Lyngby Vikings, UMX Gaming had to accept their losses at 0:2.

Despite the challenges and extremely talented competitors, UMX went home with a 4th place slot, 1,000€, and now an established name for themselves! After defeating most Open Qualifiers, several Closed Qualifiers, a previous OMEN challenge winner, and even one of the invited teams, UMX Gaming came in on one of the top spots at the OMEN WGR European Challenge.

CS:GO Team goes through to the Finals

Going straight through to the finals

With a 2:0 win against XGN.CS we are in the Finals of the CS:GO Community League. Not bad for their first competition!

Map 1 was Overpass and they looked pretty strong. A 16:7 victory confirms that.

They struggled a bit more on Map 2 which was Train. It went to Overtime which we thankfully won 19:16.

We are really proud of the boys and are excited to see them play in the finals!
